Can You Use pH Strips to Tell If You’re Pregnant? I’ll Tell You

theauthor

I recently received a question from a woman who asked if pH test strips can tell you if you’re pregnant or not. She also wanted to know if these work better or sooner than the pregnancy tests that you can get from any pHarmacy or grocery store. I’ll address these concerns in the following article.

What pH Test Strips Are Used For In Terms Of Conception And Pregnancy: In truth, these strips aren’t often used to tell you if you are pregnant. The best tool to determine that is your standard pregnancy test which measures rising hormones that occur after (and if) you have conceived. Actually, these strips are typically used to tell you if you are more likely (at least during the time of the test) to conceive a boy or a girl.

See, if you are acidic or have a higher pH, it’s said that you’re more likely to conceive a girl as this state is more detrimental to boy producing or Y sperm. Likewise, if these little strips show that you are alkaline in nature or have a lower pH, then you’re said to be more likely to conceive a boy as the environment is not nearly as hostile or detrimental to these more vulnerable little guys.

Many women will also continue to use the strips as they attempt to change their pH. For example, if you are acidic but are trying for a son, you can change your diet to include low pH foods and you can douche with certain things to bring this level down. You would then keep using the strips to see how much your efforts are paying off or to determine which foods or douches are giving you the best results. The same process is true if you are trying for a girl baby, but you’ll be trying to become more acidic instead.

People will sometimes combine the use of the strips with urine or saliva ovulation predictors as timing is another aspect of this process that you can control to give you the results that you want. Folks who want a boy baby will need to conceive later in their fertility cycle than folks who want a girl baby. This is where the ovulation predictors also become very important.

Once conception happens though, both of these tools have already done their job and you will then move on to a pregnancy tests and ultrasounds. I hope this article has cleared up any questions you may have had about when and how the pH strips come into play.
