Swimming Training – Tips To Increase Endurance For Long-Distance Swimming

theauthor

Good swimming does not only require a swimmer to have good speed but also to be able to swim long distances. So, if your baby can only manage to swim short distances then you must consider admitting him to a good swimming school. Most of these schools would teach your child to increase his endurance through meticulous training regimes. These classes make your baby increase his speed gradually and consistently.

The first step will be to record your baby’s timing. The timing would reflect how long and how far your baby can swim at a stretch. After finding out your child’s normal swim distance the trainer would ask him to swim an additional 50 meters. However, it is important that your baby does not swim the additional distance at the same fast pace as the rest of the distance because this can make your baby breathless and even give him cramps during his swimming lesson. Most swim schools have professional trainers and so there is no need to worry about your child’s water safety.

The next step is to cover the additional distance at the normal pace once your child has mastered it at a slower rate. Once your baby can comfortably swim the entire distance at the normal speed the baby swimming lessons will teach him to master another additional 50 meters. The process will continue until your child learns to comfortably swim a distance of 500 meters. The idea is to get your baby’s body gradually accustomed to increased body activity.

However, that is not all. It is not enough to swim long distances, because one must learn the correct technique as well in order to increase ones’ efficiency. And once again you can count on baby swimming classes for teaching your child the secret to optimizing his swimming efficiency. It is very difficult to maintain high-speed throughout the process of swimming long-distance and therefore your baby needs to break up the process into power-phases.

The first 100 meters should be a slow swim since the body needs a warming up session before it takes up high exertion activity. The next 100 meters should focus on picking up speed. And the next 100 meters should utilize the speed picked up by the body which means that this phases your baby should swim the fastest. The rest of the distance should focus on gradually cooling down the body during the swimming lesson. So, the next 100 meters should be medium paced swimming and the last phase should be at slow pace (similar to the begging phase).
