Why Christians Must Care about Politics

theauthor

There are number of items much more controversial than no matter if Christians need to be associated with politics, and if so, to what diploma and how that involvement should really occur. In this episode, I break down two essential premises for wondering well about this issue:

1. Christians have the right, politically talking, to advocate for our sights in the general public sq..

2. Christians have the calling, spiritually speaking, to advocate for the excellent of other individuals.

I then respond to 7 frequent objections to Christian political involvement. These (errant) strategies are sad to say identified in the course of Pastor Andy Stanley’s new guide, Not In It to Win It, so I use quotes from that reserve as a situation analyze to present the difficulties with these kinds of thinking. (To be apparent, these are issues I imagine there are with what he wrote, not issues he is presenting.)

The objections to involvement that I deal with are:

1. Persons never like the church when we concentrate on politics.

2. Neither celebration signifies Christianity, so Christians should not be identified to be affiliated with a precise bash.

3. You can’t transform people’s hearts by altering legislation.

4. Nation changing was not section of Jesus’s mission, so it shouldn’t be part of ours.

5. In “fighting” for our rights, we’re not putting other folks 1st.

6. Politics produce division and division is the enemy.

7. Politically anxious Christians just want to “get our way” or achieve “power.”

There ARE harmful mixes of religion and politics, but which is not the matter of this episode (even though I do accept these a little bit as I handle the over details). My intent listed here is to tackle those people who are cautioning Christians to keep out of politics in important methods. I feel that is a grave mistake.
