Friday June 3rd
Open Village at Historic Richmond Town (Staten Island)
Wednesday-Sundays 11a-5p until October 2nd. Tickets available through general admission: Adults $10. Ticket purchases for general admission are only available on-site at the 3rd County Courthouse in the Visitor Center. Kids (ages 6-11) $5 Members & Kids (ages 5 & under) FREE. Step back in time and experience the open village at Historic Richmond Town! The open-air museum is alive with living history, demonstrated by costumed Historical Interpreters in structures throughout the campus. The campus zones interpret life in the 1770s, 1820s, and 1860s. Historic trades are displayed in shops, and domestic life is shown inside historic homes. Daily programs include talks and demonstrations of trades, political life in the 19th century, and the evolution of 1850s fashions. Set against the backdrop of the woods and wetlands surrounding the site, the Open Village is an immersive experience that educates and inspires.
Movement & Music in Washington Square Park
Fridays 3-5p until October 28th. Free. Location: Large Playground (or alcove across from the playground depending on crowd size). Calling all Washington Square Park kids! Join Miss Debbie for an afternoon of dancing and movement in the large playground. Get your body moving to kid-friendly songs, try out some instruments, and sing along in the great outdoors.
Red Hook Fest at PS 15
Friday June 3rd 5p. Free. Red Hook Fest 2022 kicks off with a dance party and community barbecue at PS15. With activities, free food, and great music, the opening night event will be a fun neighborhood gathering for the whole family. Also check out the Red Hook Fest at Valentino Park and Pier Saturday at 2p.
Movie Nights: Moana at the Queens Botanical Garden
Friday June 3rd. Admission starts at 7p and movie will begin approximately 830p. $55 for a family of 4 non-memnber. See the website for all the ticket prices. Spend the evening in our urban oasis-turned outdoor cinema with after-hours admission. Experience big screen magic with the beautiful backdrop of golden hour in the evening. Included are a $5 snack voucher and a complimentary craft or performance (varies based on featured film). June 3rd: Moana ~ Adventurous Moana sets out on a quest across the ocean to save her people. Together with the demigod Maui, Moana encounters monsters and impossible odds on a mission to restore the heart of island goddess Te Feti. Before the screening, come make leis!

Lucy Kalantari & the Jazz Cats at the Windso Terrace Brooklyn Public Library
Saturday June 4th 11a-12n. Free. Join the Windsor Terrace Library as we kick off the Summer Reading program with Lucy Kalantari and the Jazz Cats. Multi-award winning children’s artist, Lucy Kalantari, brings delightful jazz age inspired music everyone can enjoy! Kids and families will love the interactive jazz-scat-along play, while singing about the simple joys and delights of life. There are Summer Reading Kickoff events going on at various BPL branches. FIGMENT at Snug Harbor Cultural Center (Staten Island)
Saturday June 4th 10a-10p & Sunday June 5th 10a-6p. FIGMENT is a free event that celebrates the creation and display of participatory and interactive art by emerging artists across disciplines. For one weekend only, we are partnering with Snug Harbor, to host an event where nothing is for sale and everyone is invited to create and connect.
Open Garden Day NYC: Garden Tours and Arts & Crafts at Prospect Farm
Saturday-Sunday June 4th-5th 11a-2p. Free. Come enjoy the Prospect Farm and learn about the garden, take a tour, do some gardening, and have fun with art activities. This is part of the fifth annual GreenThumb Open Garden Day NYC, which will take place for two days on Saturday, June 4 and June 5, 2022 (rain or shine) at community gardens across the city. Little Red’s Hood in Dyker Beack Park
Saturday June 4th 1p. Free. Location: Dyker Playground. Little Red’s Hood is a fresh retelling of the classic ‘Little Red Riding Hood’ tale updated with a modern sensibility that appeals to kids. In this story, Little Red is a smart, young city dweller who is obsessed with her smartphone. Wulfric, a misunderstood wolf with a sweet tooth, crosses paths with Little Red on her travels to deliver her Grandma cupcakes and the trouble begins. This story offers a comical lesson on the importance to disconnect from our digital lives and enjoy real life moment with friends and family.
Movies Under The Stars: Encanto in Paerdegat Park
Saturday June 4th 830-1030p. Free. Location: Athletic Fields. Grab a blanket and come enjoy a movie in a neighborhood park or playground! This summer, NYC Parks and The Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment will host family-friendly movie showings across the five boroughs. Encanto: A Colombian teenage girl has to face the frustration of being the only member of her family without magical powers. Movies begin at dusk. This event is FREE and open to the public. Glass bottles and alcoholic beverages are strictly prohibited. In the event of heavy rain or extreme weather, the screening may be canceled. The decision to cancel the event will be made prior to the screening and will be prominently posted on the website.

Sunday June 5th
Free Public Sunday Programs in Alley Pond Park
Sundays 930-1130a and 1-3p in June. Free. Location: Alley Pond Adventure Course. Free programs are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Morning program registration takes place from 9:30am-10:00am. Afternoon program registration takes place from 1:00pm-1:30pm. Please dress appropriately: no sandals, flip flops, or open-toed shoes are allowed. Our programs are appropriate for those ages 8 and older. The Adventure Course program lasts about two hours. Due to its popularity, we ask that you arrive at least half an hour before the start time of each program. Space is limited. A valid Photo ID is required for participants ages 18 and older.
Drums Along the Hudson: A Native American Festival in Inwood Hill Park

DRUMS ALONG THE HUDSON®: A Native American Festival and Multicultural Celebration will celebrate its 20th Anniversary in Upper Manhattan’s Inwood Hill Park on Sunday. DRUMS ALONG THE HUDSON ® features Manhattan’s only open-air pow wow, which is a celebratory gathering of Native American people, and will also feature Native American crafts, storytelling, and traditional food and dance from around the. world.
Photo Scavenger Hunt in Fort Greene Park
Sunday June 5th 11a-12n. Location: Fort Greene Park Visitor Center. Free. This guided hike through Fort Greene Park will challenge your photography skills as you work to complete a photo scavenger hunt. Bring your own digital camera or smartphone.
Pride Storytime at the Central Brooklyn Public Library
Sunday June 5th 2-3p. Free. Location: Commons Lab. Ages 3-8 years. Space is limited. Masks are required for all participants 2 years and up. June is Pride Month! Join us for a special storytime commemorating Pride, a celebration of people coming together in love and friendship, to show how far LGBTQ+ rights have come, and how in some places there’s still work to be done. We will sing silly songs, dance sparkly dances, and read some wonderful stories. Our storytime will be followed by a short activity, which you can take with you to enjoy at home if you prefer.
Sea Chanteys and Maritime Music in South Street Seaport
Sunday June 5th 2-4p. The event is FREE, and advance registration encouraged but not required. South Street Seaport Museum’s monthly Sea Chantey and Maritime Music, the original NYC chantey sing, continues live aboard Wavertree. Join a round-robin of shared songs featuring members of The New York Packet and friends. Singers of all levels, as well as listeners, are welcome to lead or request a song, join in the choruses, or just listen as we present traditional maritime work songs and ballads. Location: Tall Ship Wavertree. The Sing will take place on the main deck of Wavertree. Guests must walk up a few stairs and along an angled gangway to board the ship. At this time there will not be a way to participate virtually. Hybrid sings will return in October. Before or after the sing, participants are invited to tour the Seaport Museum galleries at 12 Fulton Street, and visit tall ship Wavertree and lightship Ambrose on Pier 16, all for free.

Wake Up, Daisy! at the Swedish Cottage Marionette Theatre (Central Park)

Wake Up, Daisy! tells the story of Daisy, a lively little girl living in the heart of New York City in an apartment overlooking Central Park. At Daisy’s much-anticipated birthday party, she encounters three special guests, known as her “Squad-parents”, from Brooklyn, Queens, and the Bronx who grant her the gifts of courage, knowledge, and a second chance. When an unwelcome guest shows up and casts a curse on her, Daisy’s life is forever changed. But through the support of her friends and an adventure throughout the city, Daisy’s strong self-determination and vivid imagination may be all she needs to break the curse.
Seaport Discovery: Exploring Our Waters with Eric Carle at South Street Seaport Museum
Wednesdays-Sundays 11a-5p until August 31st. Admission is $5 per child aged 1-12, with no charge for accompanying caregivers, teens, and infants. Advanced timed tickets are recommended. Book today! Visit our new discovery room of maritime-themed art by Eric Carle, beloved creator of picture books for young children. Seaport Discovery: Exploring Our Waters with Eric Carle is designed specifically for children aged 2-7 and their adults. Please note that people over age 5 will be required to show proof they are fully vaccinated to enter indoor exhibition spaces and to board Ambrose.
The Yard: Adventure Playground on Governor’s Island
Saturdays-Sundays 12n-4p and Monday May 30th 12n-4p. Free admission but fees for ferries. See website for ferry details. Welcome back to The Yard, New York City’s only adventure playground! The Yard offers free weekend play from 12 – 4pm. The Yard is a kids-only space stewarded by trained playworkers. The main play area is recommended for young people ages 6 to 12 and the family play area welcomes children under 5. The Yard supplies young people with loose parts materials for building, exploring, imagining and destroying. In addition to free weekends, The Yard also offers summer camp, school field trips, birthday parties and special programs, all with adherence to CDC guidelines. See the website for all the details.
Farm Exploration Days in Randall’s Island Park
Saturdays-Sundays 10a-4p until October 8th. Free. Location: Urban Farm. Explore the Urban Farm’s variety of crops, rice paddies, and fragrant herbs, and meet the chickens too! All ages welcome!
1885 Tall Ship Wavertree Free Tour at South Street Seaport
Fridays, Saturdays-Sundays 11a-5p until May 22nd and Wednesday-Sunday starting May 25th. Free. The permanently-moored 1885 tall ship Wavertree is open to the public for FREE on Saturdays and Sundays, with timed entry, at Pier 16 (Fulton and South Streets). Guided tours depart hourly and last approximately 30 minutes. Advance reservations are recommended. Guided tours include access to the main deck and quarter deck. Learn how people worked and lived aboard a 19th century cargo sailing vessel, from the captain to the ship’s officers, cooks, and crew. Then visit the cargo hold and stand atop the viewing platform where you can take in the massive main cargo area. Proof of vaccine required for all guests over age 5. Masks required.
Sharks at the American Museum of Natural History (UWS)
Museum hours Wednesday-Sunday 10a-530p. Included in General Admission+One. See website for all the details.The new exhibition Sharks features dozens of life-sized models ranging from 33 feet to 5.5 inches long, fossils from the Museum’s collections, touch-free interactive exhibits that challenge visitors to hunt like a hammerhead, and more for visitors of all ages.
