Friday April 15th

Seaport Discovery: Exploring Our Waters with Eric Carle at South Street Seaport Museum
Starting April 15th hours: Fridays-Sundays 11a-5p in April & May. Admission is $5 per child aged 1-12, with no charge for accompanying caregivers, teens, and infants. Advanced timed tickets are recommended. Book today! Visit our new discovery room of maritime-themed art by Eric Carle, beloved creator of picture books for young children. Seaport Discovery: Exploring Our Waters with Eric Carle is designed specifically for children aged 2-7 and their adults. In June, it will open Wednesday through Sunday from 11am to 5pm. Please note that people over age 5 will be required to show proof they are fully vaccinated to enter indoor exhibition spaces and to board Ambrose.

Green Meadows Farm Easter Egg Hunt at Aviator Sports and Events Center
Friday-Monday April 15th-18th 10a-4p & also Saturday-Sunday April 23rd-22nd 10a-4p. Admission: $14 per person age two and above. Register here. Brooklyn’s favorite Easter Egg Hunt is on! Join Green Meadows Farm for a fun-filled day with Whiskers, the Easter Bunny, and all his friends at the farm! And are you ready to enjoy GMF outdoor Annual Easter Egg Hunt? Roller Skating at LeFrak Center at Lakeside Prospect Park
Starting Friday April 15th. Hours: Monday to Friday: 12n-6p, Saturday: 12n-730p & Sunday:12n-6p. Admission: $6 weekdays, $10 weekends (Weekend pricing begins Friday at 4pm). Skate rentals: $7. The carousel is also open Thursdays–Sundays and Holidays 12–5p.

Screening: Encanto at the Museum of the Moving Image (Astoria)
Friday April 15th 3p Sunday April 17th 230p and additional screenings Monday-Thursday April 18th-21st 1p. Tickets: $15 / $11 senior and students / $9 youth (ages 3–17), Recommended for ages 5+. Ticket purchase includes Museum admission. Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Encanto tells the tale of an extraordinary family, the Madrigals, who live hidden in the mountains of Colombia, in a magical house, in a vibrant town, in a wondrous, charmed place called an “encanto.” Every child in the family has been blessed with the gift of magic, from super strength to the power to heal—every child except one, Mirabel (voiced by Stephanie Beatriz). But when she discovers that the magic surrounding the encanto is in danger, Mirabel decides that she might be her family’s last hope. Spring Break: Earth Rocks at Brooklyn Children’s Museum (Crown Heights)
Saturday April 16th 10a-1p & 2-5p and daily until Sunday April 24th. Tickets: $13 per person (children under 1 free). Masks required. Purchase tickets here. Join us during Spring Break for a celebration of our amazing planet Earth! Each day is a new exploration: Put on your goggles for an aquatic adventure with the Billion Oyster Project and learn about BCM’s aquatic animal and sea shell collection. Discover the benefits of pollinators with Friends of Brower Park, travel through the Earth’s biomes with The Modern Marionette, and bring your favorite stuffed animal for a veterinary check-up. Explore the natural wonders of our planet through storytelling with the North American Indigenous Center of New York. Dig into soil at a planting workshop and learn about BCM’s rock and mineral collection. Join us in our ColorLab art studio for an eco-consciousness art project inspired by artist Jessica Ann Peavy.

Town Square’s Annual Spring Egg Hunt 2022 at FourFiveSix (Williamsburg)
Saturday April 16th (10a, 11a, 12n are sold out) 1p & 2p. Tickets: $20 per child online, $30 at door, $5 per adult. Purchase tickets here. Bring your own basket and join an old-fashioned egg hunt! Town Square’s 9th Annual Spring Egg Hunt is back at FourFiveSix in fun and trendy Williamsburg/Greenpoint! Enjoy your egg hunt, say hello to the Easter Bunny, and rock to fun music! Fabulous face paintings, and delicious mimosas and Bloody Mary’s at extra cost. Wear your very best Spring bonnet and join us at FourFiveSix in Brooklyn. Proceeds benefit local nonprofit Town Square and Brooklyn Scouts BSA Lucky Pack 7, (Boys) Troop 26, and (Girls) Troop 1G.

Family Discovery Days at Brooklyn Botanic Garden
Saturdays-Sundays 1030a-1230p until May 22nd. Free with Garden admission. This is a drop-in program for families with children of all ages. Experiment, learn, and play! Hands-on activity stations throughout the Discovery Garden encourage families to explore science and nature together. Pot up a plant or create a nature craft to take home alongside volunteer Discovery Docents and GAP Teen Apprentices. All programs are outdoors and canceled in inclement weather. Farmhouse Family Day: All About Trees Earth Day Celebration! at Wyckoff Farmhouse Museum
Saturday April 16th 11a-3p. Free. Location:Fidler-Wyckoff House Park. Learn about Brooklynite Hattie Carthan and how to care for your neighborhood’s trees at April’s Farmhouse Family Day Earth Day Celebration! In honor of Earth Day, we are celebrating all things trees for our first in-person Farmhouse Family day of the year! We will be learning about Brooklynite Hattie Carthan and the importance environmentalists have in advocating for their community. We’ll then learn how to care for our neighborhood street trees in a special family-friendly workshop activity. Farmhouse Family Days are always free to the public and open to visitors of all ages. Sunday April 17th

Easter Parade and Easter Bonnet Festival (Midtown East)
Sunday April 17th starting around 10a and continuing until 4p. Free. Each year on Easter, celebrants don festive finery and show off their very best bonnets along Fifth Avenue. Immortalized by Irving Berlin (with some help from Judy Garland and Fred Astaire), the pageant is a New York City tradition that stretches back to the 1870s. The parade marches north on Fifth Avenue, from 49th Street to 57th Street. The best place to watch is from the area around St. Patrick’s Cathedral; better yet, bring your bonnet and join the parade.

Easter at Chelsea Square at The High Line Hotel
Sunday April 17th 10a-12n. Free. Hop on over for Easter at Chelsea Square! For the first time, join The High Line Hotel and The General Theological Seminary for an Easter extravaganza in the seminary’s private cloistered gardens — the event is complimentary for our community. Enter at The High Line Hotel and follow our bunny trail to the gardens, where the fun continues to unfold! Enjoy a petting farm, face painting, hula hoops & crafts, balloon animals, pinwheel garden and a Easter bunny visit.

Birding: Spring Migration in Fort Greene Park
Sunday April 17th 10-1130a. Free. Location: Fort Greene Park Visitor Center. Our Urban Park Rangers will guide you to the best viewing spots in New York City to see spring migratory birds. Birding programs are appropriate for all skill levels and beginners are welcome. Please bring your own binoculars.

Spring Wildflower Walk in Forest Park
Sunday April 17th 11a-1230p. Free. Location: Forest Park Visitor Center.Explore which plants are in bloom in our parks! Learn how to identify different species of flowers and pick up some botany basics on this engaging and educational hike with the Urban Park Rangers!

Sunday Story Time: Change Sings: A Children’s Anthem at New-York Historical Society Museum & Library (UWS)
Sunday April 17th 1130a. Free with Museum admission. Ages: 3–6 years. This April, read books featured in our new exhibition Picture the Dream: The Story of the Civil Rights Movement Through Children’s Books. This week, check out a brand-new book filled with the same heart and inspiration found in the stories highlighted in Picture the Dream. Presidential inaugural poet and activist Amanda Gorman has written Change Sings: A Children’s Anthem with illustrations by Loren Long. In this book, a young girl leads a musical adventure to make changes, both big and small, in her community. After the story, make your own guitar to sing a song of hope and love in your own life! Wake Up, Daisy! at the Swedish Cottage Marionette Theatre (Central Park)
Fridays-Sundays 11-1145 (doors 1030a) & 1-145p (doors 1230p) until 12/31/22. Tickets: $12 adult, $8 child. Purchase tickets here. Location: 79th Street and West Drive Central Park. Wake Up, Daisy! tells the story of Daisy, a lively little girl living in the heart of New York City in an apartment overlooking Central Park. At Daisy’s much-anticipated birthday party, she encounters three special guests, known as her “Squad-parents”, from Brooklyn, Queens, and the Bronx who grant her the gifts of courage, knowledge, and a second chance. When an unwelcome guest shows up and casts a curse on her, Daisy’s life is forever changed. But through the support of her friends and an adventure throughout the city, Daisy’s strong self-determination and vivid imagination may be all she needs to break the curse.

The Yard: Adventure Playground on Governor’s Island
Saturdays-Sundays 12n-4p. Free admission but fees for ferries. See website for details. Wel­come back to The Yard, New York City’s only adven­ture play­ground! The Yard offers free week­end play from 12 – 4pm. The Yard is a kids-only space stew­ard­ed by trained play­work­ers. The main play area is rec­om­mend­ed for young peo­ple ages 6 to 12 and the fam­i­ly play area wel­comes chil­dren under 5. The Yard sup­plies young peo­ple with loose parts mate­ri­als for build­ing, explor­ing, imag­in­ing and destroy­ing. In addi­tion to free week­ends, The Yard also offers sum­mer camp, school field trips, birth­day par­ties and spe­cial pro­grams, all with adher­ence to CDC guidelines. Farm Exploration Days in Randall’s Island Park
Saturdays-Sundays 10a-4p until October 8th. Free. Location: Urban Farm. Explore the Urban Farm’s variety of crops, rice paddies, and fragrant herbs, and meet the chickens too! All ages welcome!

1885 Tall Ship Wavertree Free Tour at South Street Seaport
Saturdays-Sundays 11a-5p until April 30th. Free. The permanently-moored 1885 tall ship Wavertree is open to the public for FREE on Saturdays and Sundays, with timed entry, at Pier 16 (Fulton and South Streets). Guided tours depart hourly and last approximately 30 minutes. Advance reservations are recommended. Guided tours include access to the main deck and quarter deck. Learn how people worked and lived aboard a 19th century cargo sailing vessel, from the captain to the ship’s officers, cooks, and crew. Then visit the cargo hold and stand atop the viewing platform where you can take in the massive main cargo area. Proof of vaccine required for all guests over age 5. Masks required.

Sharks at the American Museum of Natural History (UWS)
Museum hours Wednesday-Sunday 10a-530p. Included in General Admission+One. See website for all the details.The new exhibition Sharks features dozens of life-sized models ranging from 33 feet to 5.5 inches long, fossils from the Museum’s collections, touch-free interactive exhibits that challenge visitors to hunt like a hammerhead, and more for visitors of all ages. Older than dinosaurs—and more threatened than threatening—sharks are spectacular, surprising, and often misunderstood. Discover the incredible diversity of this ancient and fascinating group of fishes. Note: The Museum continues to require vaccinations against COVID-19 and facial coverings.
